With record attendance of over 119,000 visitors, Beef Australia (aka ‘Beef’) in Rockhampton was certainly a massive event. DelayPay had the opportunity to be based onsite with our sister company Farm Tender, which has over 70,000 members on its online buying and selling platform for Farmers and Ag Businesses.
The event seemed equally attended by industry professionals as producers, with many traveling from interstate. It was great catching up with those who dropped by the Farm Tender site and the many impromptu discussions throughout the event with various stakeholders, colleagues and acquaintances who make the regular 3 year pilgrimage.
It’s quite amazing to think that over 1,300 head of cattle covering 28 breeds were represented within the precinct which also housed over 500 trade exhibitors.
If you haven’t been before it’s not your regular cattle show! You were never left wanting of things to do with the numerous functions, seminars, property tours alongside the judging and trade sites.
The event which is supported by the State and Federal government, also serves as an incubator for innovation with the latest technologies, climate projects, carbon updates, livestock management software, financers, and supporting supply chains (direct and indirect), not to mention traditional agents and marketing channels.
And this is not only for Australians, with over 600 international delegates attending. These people are a mix of industry leaders, investors and government officials who make the decisions as to what genetics will be entering their country.
One great thing about Beef is having a dedicated week where you can get out of the office, off the farm and come together with so many like-minded people invested in the industry. The mental health benefits of networking and connection at events such as this cannot be understated, especially due to the isolating nature of farming and working/living in rural areas.
There was also this incredible sense of pride evident throughout the week, not just about the value beef producers contribute to the Australian economy, but also the responsibility we have in managing our land and feeding the world population whilst raising the next generation.
The next Beef is set to be between the 2-8 of May 2027 – be great to see you there!
